Governor's Proclamation: Celebrating Health Literacy Month
October is Health Literacy Month in Delaware
In June 2025, Delaware’s General Assembly passed House Concurrent Resolution 67 (HCR 67), officially proclaiming October 2025 as Health Literacy Month. This proclamation recognizes that health literacy—the ability to find, understand, and use health information—is essential for every Delawarean to make informed decisions about their care.
We thank the House and Senate sponsors of HCR 67 for championing this important issue, and Governor Matt Meyer’s office for recognizing the vital role of health literacy in advancing equity and improving outcomes across our state.
The Health Literacy Council of Delaware (HLCD), together with state agencies, healthcare providers, educators, and community organizations, is committed to turning this proclamation into action. Our mission is to ensure every person in Delaware has the tools to:
- Understand their health information
- Communicate effectively with providers
- Navigate care systems with confidence
